  1. A recommendation for a daycare is to buy toys that are easy to clean, like plastic toys. It is recommended that you clean the toys at the end of every day, or twice a day depending on how many children there are.
  2. Put the toys in a clean tub or a sink with warm water and soap. Scrub the toys with a toothbrush to clean the hard to reach places.
  3. Rinse them with water to remove all the soap.
  4. Put the toys again in the tub or sink filled with warm water and bleach. For every gallon of water put one teaspoon of bleach. Be careful with the bleach. Putting too much bleach can also be dangerous.
  5. Let the toys air-dry to keep them sanitized.
  6. If you have a dishwasher you can wash them their instead.
  7. Wash all stuffed animals in a washing machine and make sure nothing comes loose.

Tips on cleaning surfaces

Make sure to clean all of the following with a sanitizing solution made with ¼ cup of bleach and one gallon of warm water.

  1. Make sure to ask your cleaning company to wipe counter tops, doors, handles, and floors at the end of every day.
  2. Clean and disinfect all seats and chairs the children use.
  3. Clean the bathroom and the diaper changing area every time you change a child.
  4. Make sure to disinfect the trash basket and the diaper pails.

Tips on weekly cleaning

Everything in the daycare has to be cleaned. All of the following has to be done at the end of every week.

  1. Make sure to wash all the blankets that are used.
  2. Wash all the costumes you have for kids to play with.
  3. Clean all the cribs, mattresses, and sleeping bags that you might have
  4. Wash all the rugs
  5. Clean the windows.
