colorcodedcleaningragsIt is very important for all janitorial companies to have all of their equipment color coded (assigned) to ensure there will be no cross contamination while taking care of the facilities.

Cleaning Rags: Please require your janitorial company to provide their cleaners with at least 4 different colors.

Color Yellow: The housekeepers can use yellow rags to clean ONLY common areas like desks, counters, etc..

Color Blue: Blue rags can be used for kitchen cleaning only.

Color Red: Reds rags are to be used ONLY inside the restrooms.

Color Orange: The housekeepers can use the orange rags for stainless steel cleaning. It is very important to keep these rags away from the yellow rags. Stainless steel has oil an you certainly do not want to clean common area and leave them greasy.

Using different mop-heads and mop buckets:

Make sure your janitorial company spends the extra money needed to have more than one mop bucket. Ask them to have a mop bucket to mop all common areas and another mop bucket to mop restrooms. The same goes with the mop-heads they use.

Ask the janitorial operations manager to make sure these mop buckets are labeled properly or buy them with different colors.

Mop buckets cost from $45.00 up to $75.00. Even though this may sound like an added expense, these mop buckets last a long time with good care.
